FAQ
- Can I use my own USB Bluetooth and Wifi adapter?
We can not support or honor the warranty on any device not sold by waveBlend for use with the units. So experiment at your own risk. In general most Bluetooth adapters will work, but only Wifi adapters based on the 8192cu and rt3572sta chipsets have a chance of working. If you have a good reason for needing a special adapter please email us and we can look into enhancing the firmware to support it.
- Can the upstairs units play different audio from the downstairs ones?
Each unit can have its own multicast address setting so such a system can be setup. It would however be difficult to quickly change shared zones using the current web page system. If we get enough requests for quicker access to custom zoning capabilities we will enhance the web page in a firmware upgrade.
- How can I handle an audio source that is very quiet or loud?
Each Unit's Settings page has an Input Volume Adjust slider in the Audio section to deal with line-in signal volume differences. It's range is -24db to 24db.
- How do I handle the audio sounding out of sync to a unit?
Each Unit's Settings page has a Delay Offset slider in the Audio section. Each integer setting represents about 5.2ms of delay (5ms for 48kHz sources and 5.44ms for 44.1kHz sources) so it is adjustable from -31.2ms to 41.6ms. This issue tends to occur on audio receiver systems which introduce their own latency usually because of DSP or A/V sync processing. Some have their own tunable latency settings. Remember it is also possible to adjust all the other unit's delay above zero so it is possible to create a maximum difference of about 72.8ms.
